A brave new world, a newly colored Stargate. What more could you ask for?

I will always prefer Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping and Christopher Judge.
I'm kinda skeptical on Atlantis- I don't know if it'll be able to live up to Stargate.
That aside this is pretty spiffy. Nicely colored, I like how bright and vivid it is.

Great stuff, it needs your tender skill to put an equally cool background on it. :D

I haven't seen the show yet, but it looks cool, whats the deal with this new gate? It looks like it needs more coordinates than the 7 runes from the regular gates. Does it use a different gate system or something?

Wait...there's a new series?

Very cool.

Actually, the 'normal' gates have the same 9 chevron things, but 2 of them aren't usually used and are usually hidden underground by whatever is holding the gate up!

Thats odd, I didn't know that... I just remember what Jackson said from the original movie, they needed 6 runes for the coordinates of the destination and one for the point of origin. I didn't know they had any extra. I don't keep up with the TV series much.

That's pretty cool. Nice work.

Well, I think I'm gonna have to go with the crowd on this one: "cool!"

As far as the show is concerned, I have high hopes for it. They seem to have a pretty good cast, plenty of room for good character development, and a lot of stuff to make for cool special effects. And probably a few opportunities for good storylines as well.

But concerning your work here, I'd have to say it's excellent. I've played around with making a stargate myself, and have had no real luck making it look good. Not that I've put that much time into it, but I don't think I'd be able to do as well anyway. Your texturing on this seems flawless. The inscribed decorative designs around the edges, and the blue symbols, and especially the chevrons all look great. Not to mention the event horizon. Very well rendered.

Now I don't know how this works into your plans for future works, but I think this would make a great centerpiece for some sort of scene, perhaps as a gate simply sitting on a planet somewhere, with two or three moons in the sky, or maybe even in orbit of some planet like they have in the series. In any case, I think you've got a great basis upon which to add more fancy stuff.

And just on a personal note, I think I prefer this one to the one in the show. Somehow this one seems more real. Or maybe just cooler. I think it may be the chevrons, but I'm not sure.

EXCELLANT work! Fantastic detailing, I love it :D I still like SG-1 better than Atlantis, but it's all good!
